Learn to Sail - 3rd Coast Cruising

Learn to sail in Chicago! Spend the summer months learning how to sail or improving your skills with our certified instructors and experienced crew. We are located downtown, in Dusable Harbor. We sail 7-days a week May through October:
6:30pm – Monday thru Friday
10:00am and 1:30pm – Saturday and Sunday

Acquire first time hands-on sailing experience or practice newly learned skills.

• Unlimited Summer Sailing* - Sail with any Basic or Advanced class up to 7 days a week.
Ultimate Unlimited Sailing - $2,250, Weekday Unlimited Sailing - $1600,
Monthly Unlimited Sailing - $600

• Basic Sailing - Learn the essential skills to sail a 30-foot sailboat.
3 - hour classes meet for a total of 3 times (9 hours total). $290

• Advanced Sailing - Learn how to skipper a 30-foot sailboat.
3 - hour classes meet for a total of 6 times (18 hours total). $580

• Navigation Class - Learn all aspects of Navigation, Chart Reading,
Fixes, Bearings, COLREGS, Weather, Tides- everything you need to properly
prepare yourself for sailing just about anywhere in the world. 4 classes
offered off-season. Call for next class schedule. $400

• Storm Chasers - Heavy weather sailing, with an emphasis on safety. Call for pricing

• Magellan Club - Cross Lake Michigan, GPS and charting instruction, compass navigation.

• Private Lessons - Not sure if you are ready to take the Silent Skipper exam? Private lessons are available.
$150.00 per hour (Must have completed Advanced SailFitness to be qualified.)

• Silent Skipper - Think you are ready to rent our boats for a daysail? Our Captains will sail with you as you demonstrate your ability to run a 30-foot sailboat. You will be graded and if you pass you will be certified to rent our boats. Use this extra sailing time to add to your sailing resume and skill set, helping you become qualified to rent a sailboat on your dream vacation, a bareboat cruise in a tropical paradise.

Classes will be conducted on a 30-foot sailboat located in Dusable Harbor Chicago. Students will learn the dynamics, mechanics and physics involved in sailing. They will acquire hands-on keelboat sailing experience, with an emphasis placed on basic boat operation and safety.

Note: All boats in our fleet are 29 feet or larger and meet all safety requirements outlined by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
